They are seeking a Senior Manual QA Engineer to join their growing Quality team and help establish robust testing practices from the ground up. You will focus on analyzing requirements, designing and executing manual test cases, and processes to ensure reliability across payments, billing, reconciliation, onboarding, integrations, SIS, and other mission-critical workflows.
Your work will directly support millions of tuition payments processed annually, the trust of thousands of schools, and the seamless experience of families across Latin America. This is a high-impact senior individual contributor role for someone who excels in fast-scaling environments and enjoys building reliable systems.
Analyze product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify gaps, risks, and ambiguities.
Actively participate in refinement, planning, and design discussions to ensure quality is built in early.
Define and challenge acceptance criteria to make them clear, testable, and aligned with user value.
Design and execute comprehensive manual test scenarios, including happy paths, edge cases and negative scenarios.
Perform exploratory testing guided by risk and system knowledge.
Validate functional and relevant non-functional aspects (usability, permissions, basic performance perception).
Ensure testing is proportional to risk and impact.
Report high-quality, reproducible defects with clear steps, expected vs actual results, and impact analysis.
Classify defects by severity and priority in collaboration with Product and Engineering.
Follow up on fixes, perform re-testing, and validate side effects.
Identify recurring defect patterns and systemic quality issues.
Plan and execute regression testing (focused or full, depending on context).
Perform smoke testing in pre-production and production environments when required.
Provide informed Go / No-Go recommendations based on risk and test results.
Support hotfix validation and incident follow-ups.
Work closely with developers to clarify expected behavior and reproduce issues.
Partner with Product to align on user experience and business impact.
Communicate risks, trade-offs, and quality status clearly and proactively.
Act as a quality advocate without becoming a blocker.
Identify opportunities to improve testing practices, documentation, and workflows.
Contribute to test checklists, guidelines, and shared knowledge.
Collaborate with QA Automation to identify candidates for automation.
Participate in post-mortems and propose preventive actions.
5+ years of engineering experience, with a focus on QA or testing
2+ years in payments, financial systems, or high-accuracy data workflows
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data integrity patterns
Familiarity with integrating with payment providers, banks, or financial APIs
Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and system design abilities
Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English (written & spoken)
Experience with Latin American payment methods (OXXO, PSE, SPEI, Banred, etc.)
Familiarity with electronic invoicing systems and country-specific tax requirements
Experience with reconciliation platforms (e.g., Simetrik)
Background in high-throughput, mission-critical systems processing large financial volumes
Knowledge of accounting, ERP, or financial data models
Experience contributing to QA automation, observability, or reliability engineering
Experience working with AI, ML pipelines, or AI-assisted validation systems
