You will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-performance backend systems while collaborating with senior engineers and architects. Your work will directly contribute to the scalability, reliability, and performance of our core platform.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based microservices and RESTful APIs following established architectural standards.</li><li>Build scalable, resilient, and secure backend components for distributed systems.</li><li>Collaborate with senior engineers and architects to implement technical designs and deliver production-ready solutions.</li><li>Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and sprint planning activities.</li><li>Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code following software engineering best practices.</li><li>Work with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and application performance.</li><li>Contribute to technical documentation, including API specifications and implementation details.</li></ul><h3>Must-Have Qualifications</h3><ul><li>3+ years of professional experience in Java backend development.</li><li>Strong proficiency in Java (11+) and the Spring Boot/Spring ecosystem.</li><li>Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and event-driven systems using Kafka.</li><li>Experience developing applications using microservices or distributed architectures.</li><li>Hands-on experience implementing or integrating OAuth 2.0 authentication and authorization.</li><li>Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments.</li><li>Experience working with PostgreSQL, including writing and optimizing SQL queries.</li><li>Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile environment.</li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Experience with Redis, caching strategies, or data warehousing concepts.</li><li>Familiarity with bare metal or on-premise infrastructure environments.</li><li>Knowledge of OpenID Connect (OIDC), SOC 2, GDPR, or other security and compliance standards.</li><li>Experience contributing to code reviews and engineering best practices.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.</li></ul><p>Originally posted on <a href="https://himalayas.app">Himalayas</a></p>
